National Portrait Gallery
The National Portrait Gallery in London was the first portrait gallery in the world when it opened in 1856. Today it houses portraits of historically important and famous British people from throughout the ages with everyone from Kings and Queens to pop stars, writers, sports stars and models on the walls, attracting thousands of visitors each day. There is over 1500 m² of hand cut parquetry floors amongst the many thousands of metres of timber floors which are a feature of the gallery’s character and heritage.
When the floors require refinishing the choice of finish is critical so as to be able to withstand the heavy use. Bona finishes have been used here and in the adjoining National Gallery in Trafalgar Square for over 20 years and Bona Traffic HD water based finish was chosen to protect the floors for many more years to come.
